Kristy Shields, owner of Correct – A Corrective Exercise and Pilates Studio, has an intrinsic love of the human body and the personal drive to help you achieve your optimal physical and emotional health. Kristy is a licensed occupational therapist who has worked extensively in various health care and athletic training settings over the past twenty years. She has extensive experience working with clients ranging in age from pediatrics, youth, adults to seniors. She has extensive experience working inpatient therapist for a popular spine/orthopedic hospital and more recently in outpatient therapy and home health care. Simply, when it comes to rehabilitation, Kristy has pretty much seen and rehabilitated all types of injury, weakness, malalignments, and physical abnormalities.

Kristy is also a former track athlete and has competed in several half marathons. She has trained clients in the fitness industry for over 20 years teaching various forms of group exercise. She is class certified in both AFAA and Yogafit.

With Kristy’s professional understanding of anatomy and the body’s need for natural movement, alignment, and muscle balance, Kristy pursued her Pilates Certification through Polestar Pilates after years of personal training to optimize her own health and fitness. She has trained extensively and is committed to lifelong education in Pilates. Kristy is certified in Studio/Rehabilitation Pilates, and she has owned and operated her own Pilates studio since 2008.

Kristy is also a specialist in the BioMechanics Method of Corrective Exercise, in which she uses a methodical approach to identify musculoskeletal imbalances that are either causing pain or contributing to movement dysfunction. She helps you understand those imbalances and guides you in correcting them.

Additional certifications and training for Kristy are Biomechanics Method Corrective Exercise, Polestar Pilates Certification, and Fletcher Intensive Pilates Certification. Kristy is also trained in Pilates for athletes, development of the athlete, both competitive and recreational. She is trained in Women’s health and pre and post-natal training. Kristy’s training videos are viewed extensively on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and she is also the producer of The Baby Bump Workout, an entire pre-natal pilates workout routine she developed and filmed during her own pregnancy with her second child.
